This year I need to prove my value about business to my boss, especially in social ecommerce, such as Douyin & PDD. Because the CEO of our company believes that the China team didn’t catch up with the trends of youth’s consumption behavior. She gave a task which is we need building the expertise for go to market methods.
Currently, the revenue of Logitech China more than RMB 5B, and online biz more than 3.5B. Among of them, the JD.com contributed almost 2B and Taobao has almost 1.2B, and then the PDD has 370M, Douyin get 270M. They reason why is the sum of each platform are greater than the total actual revenue, because exist an issue which is JD sell some goods to retailers and these retailers sold the products through Taobao or Douyin or PDD.
Although the Douyin just occupies 5.5% in our company, the average standard of Douyin share of companies is between 20%~35%, and the Logitech’s average penetration of each platform is 25%~30%. For example, our company market share is 27% and 33% in JD.com and Taobao. Above that, the total peripheral market size of Douyin about 2B, which is ¼ of JD.com and 2/7 of Taobao. So, the total size of the Chinese social ecommerce platform about 1/5 of legacy ecommerce platform.
So, you can see there are two obviously opportunities are raising the penetration of Douyin and expand the weight of Douyin business of Logitech China. If we can achieve the 25% share of Douyin peripheral industry, we will get extra revenue which is almost 230M; if we can expand the weight to 1/3 of Chinese Logitech, we will obtain more than 1.5B biz size in social ecommerce.
Although the future is exciting, the reality is embarrassed, because we don’t know how to real enhance the live streaming of official flagship store and short video from influencers. This problem not only the cost can be provided persistently, but the product portfolio is appropriate to social platform.
