Jack didn’t come from a rich family. In fact they were pretty poor. Julian and Miles however, was very rich. Jack located a sled near a rock at the bottom of Skeleton Hill where kids adored to sledge around and named it lighting. Later on, he discovered that it was Miles’ old sled, believing they would laugh at him and call him a “hobo” if they found out the truth, so he lied to take a book from his locker.
