Focus on each verb and decide which tense is more suitable for each verb – don’t worry about the whole sentence and keeping it consistent.

I lived next to the Olympic Green and usually people could take exercises in the park, but the government has been locking down the park for weeks, so people went to the square which was next to the National Stadium. Because it was too hot to go out during the day, I went for a walk when the sunset. I borrowed a sharing bike and rode to the square which was only 3 miles away from my home. The square is very big, and even though there were a large number of people, I didn’t feel crowded. There was a cool breeze and beautiful sunset glow which made me feel calm and peaceful. People were playing different exercises, such as badminton, frisbee, roller skating, etc…and the most interesting was land surfboard. It seems like you only need to swing your body, and the surfboard can keep going and never stops. I really want to try it, maybe I will buy one or find a online shop where can rent it.
