Richard and Mary, you are my dearest teachers, and guardian angels / my parents from another life. You guys like the things I like, and support me in everything I do, and give me space whilst keeping a watchful eye over me. – maybe add a story about a time they kept a watchful eye over you or someone else – I know you were on your trip in Thailand, enjoying the sand and sun, so thank you so much for coming back to be here today, I appreciate it so so much.
At a really difficult time in my life when I was both emotionally and physically injured and terrified that it was maybe going to be the end of my yoga career. I had a severe neck injury which meant that I couldn’t do many postures, and I remember one time I said to Richard that I was so scared that my yoga life was over… and he just said to me “yeah.. I’ve had that same thought many times before…” which in that moment was so helpful to me because I knew he could understand me and he had complete confidence that I was going to be fine. The wisdom and sense of humor that Richard injects into my life makes learning with him such a joy for me… he is always able to teach me so effortlessly, and knows how to say the right thing at the right time. Mary, you’re so compassionate… I’m sure you remember that during the time I had that same injury, I was doing a shoulder stand with you and the pain was so incredibly intense that I had tears running down my face, and Mary, you came over to check on me and help me to take some pressure off my shoulder and I could just feel the empathy and emotion coming through you at that moment and it just warmed me to know how much you cared.
