Last class, we talked about how to handle celebrities during a shoot especially for the security part. This time I would like to share how to pick doubles for celebrities. As we know, celebrity’s time is very limited particularly in commercial shoot, so usually we will prepare doubles for them to save time. The most common double is “stand in”, the purpose of stand in is helped director, photographer and gaffer to find the right angle and position, therefore the criteria of the stand in should be same height, close figure, skin tone and face shape. Before the celebrity show up to the location, the crew will use the stand in to test all contents of the shoot. And based on the script of the shoot, sometimes we need to prepare some doubles with specific requirement, for example, hand model, leg model and action double. For hand model and leg model, we will ask the agent to take photos of the celebrity’s hand or leg, and we will search the talent whose hand or leg can match the celebrity. For the famous celebrity, we have a list of their doubles, and knowing who has done it for him, therefore can help us to save a lot of time. For the common celebrity, we will send the detailed data to casting agents for search and make sure that the double is close to our need.
