Because of improvement of technology, the children’s methods of entertainment become more and more divers. And some people think that educating children is a more difficult task today than it was in the past because they spend so much time on cell phone, online games, and social networking Website. Based on my personal understanding and background, I agree with this statement.

Firstly, most children do not have strong self-control ability. They will spend time which they should study on cell phone, online games, and social networking Website. These fresh and interesting entertainments have a strong attraction to children so that they can not control themselves to resist their desire. Then they don’t have enough time to study, and their grade will go bad. For example, my junior high school classmate, Jacky was a good student in grade 8. But he contacted video game in grade 9. This video game was interesting and relaxing, so he spent so much time to play this video. He even play this video game in the classes. When self-studying at night, he always played this video game. Our teacher advised him to stop playing, but he refuted. Then his grade became lower and lower. As a result, he got a bad score in the senior high school entrance examination, then he went a senior high school that was different with us. We also agreed that he can go to a better school, if he does not play video game.

Secondly, the social networking Websites have many bad things that do not fit for children, such as some violent things and incorrect mind. These things will affect children’s mind, then they don’t have motivation to study. For example, there were popular group in the internet called “cyber celebrity”. They often do not have great education background, but they only need dancing or singing in the internet, then they can get high profit even higher than some famous scientists. This phenomenon makes children think that learning is unmeaning. In past, most children dream to be a scientists, doctors or teachers. But now, the recent investigation shows that About 80% children want to be a “cyber celebrity” that do not need learning.

All in all, although there are some benefits brought by improvement of technology, children are truly difficult to be educated.

This phenomenon makes children think that learning is meaningless / pointless / useless. In past, most children dream of being scientists, doctors or teachers. But now, the recent research / evidence shows that about 80% of children want to be a “cyber celebrity” that does not need an education.

All in all, although there are some benefits brought by improvement of technology, it’s very difficult for children to be educated.

The reading passage says that there are three reasons that caused the extinction of sea cows. However in the lecture, the professor holds a different view that these three reasons is wrong, and provides three specific reasons.

Firstly, the reading passage argues that the sea cows were extincted by native people’s overhunted, because the sea cows was a good source of food. However, the lecture points that the sea cow have 9 meters body, and there only many little villages of native people. So they captured a sea cow about once a mouth. One sea cow is enough to eat in a long period for native people. They did not need capture so many sea cows so that the sea cows to be extincted.

Secondly, the reading passage claims that the number of sea cows main food source, kelp, was decreased by ecosystem disturbances. By contrast, the lecture refutes the idea of the reading  passage and insists that there were other animal, such as whale also ate kelp. But there were no reports that show the number of whale to reduce. It can show that kelp grow good in the 1768.

Thirdly, the reading passage suggests that the sea cows was extincted by fur traders’ hunting. They had good weapons that allowed them to quickly kill large number of sea cows. On the contrary, the lecture belives that before fur traders coming, the number of sea cows began to decrease. So this theory is unreliable.
