Dristi – this word appeared in the ashtanga yoga system, according to different posture and body direction guides your attention towards that direction to synchronize the body, breath, and mind. There are 12 different gazing point dristi (……). For example in triangle pose, the gaze is on the thumb because the head has to turn with the body towards the ceiling. But most essential meaning of Dristi is about drawing attention from your periphery, externally to internally. Also, to direct the energy of the whole body in that direction, however occasionally some practitioners take this tool too literally and see Dristi as an object rather than the background which supports honest practice. From the ancient yoga test that points out there are many Dristi in the posture at the tip of the nose.

It’s the first time in my life that i had ever been guided through the process of lying down to relax… every step explained to me, relax this part of your body, relax that part of your body – I felt like I was in the arms of my mother – it was the most comforting feeling I’ve ever head and I just found myself with tears in my eyes.
