To be honest, it’s hard for me to recall the so-called “fortunate thing”, due to the repetitive pandemic and the political frictions between China and America. It has been a long time since we heard good news.

What I consider to exemplify is specific “good news”: the female victims have been rescued successfully from the Tangshan beating incident. A couple of weeks ago, there was a vicious social event in Tangshan. Several brawny males beat two girls in a grill house. The cause of this event is pertinent to the sexual harassment behavior of these brawny men. Faced with such unfair treatment, the girls fought with these men and managed to protect themselves by asking other guests for help. However, succumbing to the force of these bad males, no one was prone to help.

In fact, it may not be good news in an absolute sense, although the outcome of the event seems good, the whole process of the event remains some questions to discuss. For example, to help girls or not is sheerly a dilemma and what’s more, and why do these types of vicious beating events still exist in China today? After all, our nation has been striving to establish a harmonious society for at least decades. In addition, why do the perpetrators assault others unscrupulously? Do magnates act as a protective umbrella for bad guys?

Anyway, it is fortunate that the victims had a narrow escape, but escape doesn’t mean everything is fine. The Tangshan beating event has gave us some lessons and doubts of emergency of violence which are necessary for us to take some steps to avoid repeated tragedies.
