After the fall of the head anchor

With a big bad news regarding to head anchor in livestream industry, it shook up the livestream industry. Two weeks ago, head anchor Wei ya was fined for her tax evasion. After Wei ya’s punishment, one of official of the tax authority disclosed that the punishment of Wei ya was just a beginning. In fact, government was intended to make an example out of her.

The real purpose of government is to moderate livestream industry. During past few years, the barbaric growth of industry have sprang up a series of issues such as tax evasion, deceiving marketing, and sale of counterfeits. When it comes to some problems of an industry, self-modulation of the industry was insufficient to work out. All concerned of this industry entangled with various interests, they were reluctant to damage their benefits. Besides, another underground reason was that the fiscal budget was tight. Not only livestream industry, real esate industry, internet industry also contributed to fiscal budget a lot through various penalties.

The direct result of Wei ya’s punishment was to exhort other anchors to payed back tax in time, so avoiding more serious penalization as Wei ya. Apparantly, it worked. It was said that Li jiaqi, another top anchor, also payed back tax which sum was reached up to 1.7 billion. Top anchors trapped into tax evasion, and Taobao couldn’t keep out of the affair. Unlike the fair algorithm mechanism of douyin, Taobao is a typical centralized platform, taobao livestrem as the same thing. Two of the top anchor occupied over 50% revenue of it. For Taobao, some senior industries said that losing top anchors means fall of title.

For industry, in the long term, there are pros and cons. From positive side, the position of the top anchors is ramshackle which may help the industry to establish a new order. Under the absolutely new condition, other waist even tail anchors could access to more resources and chances, so does other platforms.From the negative side, the rapid development of the industry may be over. And its necessary for all anchors and platforms to be cautious to every new policy.
