Writing exercise

I believe my professional experiences at Bloomberg and Datayes and my extra-curricular experiences as a street dancer will make me a valuable contributor/asset to Wharton in class, career development and extra-curricular activities. *

In terms of career development, I would love to invite my connection at Bloomberg, Dan Tsou, who is the head of trading products at Bloomberg, as a guest speaker to the Tech Club. I will also organize a trek to Bloomberg and the other Fintech company offices in New York. I believe by visiting the largest technology companies in NYC, my peers in the club can build valuable connections in the city and be more prepared for their future career.

In class, my transition from Bloomberg to Datayes allows me to share the unique insights I have gathered/collected from the real world to my classroom. The companies I worked for – Bloomberg and Datayes – have similar business models but focus on different markets. From localizing a global product in China to scaling a new product within a year, my diverse work experiences at both a well-established global enterprise and a fast growing local company have broadened/furthered my understanding in fintech. Moreover, as the enterprise sales at Bloomberg, I was always handling difficult conversations with clients, leveraging internal and external resources, finding the common ground, and pushing for the next step. I look forward to being an active participant and contributor in group discussions and sharing these insights with all my peers.

In the community, I will bring my passion for street dance to Wharton and join Dance Studio as a choreographer. As the VP and choreographer at ACE, I discovered talents, coached more than two hundred performers and directed hundreds of successful shows. In the past, I brought together twelve Bloomberg colleagues to perform at annual dinners, a challenge which gave me confidence to encourage and coach new/inexperienced dancers/beginners. At Wharton, I will sign up to be the choreographer at Dance Studio and invite the great Broadway Dance Center dancers, such as Candace Brown and Keenan Cooks, to teach at the workshop. I am thrilled to see the showcase go live again in 2021, and I can’t wait to join the family in 2022.

I look forward to furthering my studies at Wharton, and I am committed to using my diverse background to contribute to the Wharton community. *
