Vocabulary

Homonym – words with the same sound

eg Light (not heavy)  and Light (bright light)

eg: Meat (Beef)       Meet (Friends)

eg: Chinese has sooooo many homonyms.

eg: Hua 话 and Hua 画 are homonyms in Chinese.

Rhyme – two words that have a similar sound, it is like music or  a poem when you say them together.

eg: I have a cat that is so fat he can’t even wear a hat.

eg: In Chinese do you need to Rhyme with the Tones? Like 2nd tone and 4th tone should go together?

simplify – to make it simple, easy, not complicated.

eg: This sentence is too long and complicated. You need to simplify it.

eg: In math class we have to simplify the numbers.

eg: Simplify this fraction  4/8.

eg: 4/8 simplified is 1/2.

eg: 3/5 Can’t be simplified.

eg: You can’t simplify 3/5.
