Vocabulary

per – according to,  following

eg: As per your request, we have fulfilled all the basic requirements.

eg: I delivered the box per your instructions.

push back – move to a later or future time

eg: Can we push back the meeting to tomorrow?

time conflict – when you have two things scheduled at the same time

eg: These two deadlines have a time conflict. There’s no way we can finish them both on time.

punctual (ADJ) punctuality (N)– being on time

eg: Germans are known for their punctuality.

eg: Sorry for being late, I’m usually more punctual.

eg: Sorry, I’m usually swamped on Mondays, can you try to be more punctual. I have a meeting right after this.

swamped – very busy, have many things to do,    ( a swamp is a very wet forest, filled with water. So you would walk very slowly in a swamp)

eg: I’m swamped, there’s no way I can reschedule it for today.

a mix up (N) – when two things accidentally got changed

eg: Sorry, there’s been a mix up, your meeting isn’t until 4:30.

got somewhere – to arrive somewhere

eg: When I got to the office.

eg: When I got there/home/here.

Speaking exercise

This Tuesday I was quite swamped, I booked 3 meeting, two in the morning and one in the afternoon. But when I go to the office I found that I mixed up the schedule for the morning meetings. I had to inform them to reserve another time to later of the day. I just hope everyone can be punctual.
