I like drinking a cup of coffee in the morning. (every morning, or often in the morning)
Simple Past:

I worked 9 hours today.
I Liked / I used to like (like before, but don’t like now)
I liked him until he left my hometown. (don’t like him anymore)
I almost work overtime everyday. (It really means you don’t work overtime) But then the boss lets me go home.
I work overtime almost every day. (It really means, you work overtime, very often)
I ate that cake. (I ate it)
I almost ate that cake. (I didn’t eat it)
I ate that whole cake. (Ate all of it)
I almost ate that whole cake. (Ate a lot of cake, but not ALL)
