Does Japanese language have tones like Chinese does?

I have no idea if Japanese has tones.

I don’t know if Japanese has tones. ( If = maybe it has, maybe it doesn’t have. )

(It doesn’t have tones that I know of. ) Not that I know of. (I think they don’t have, but not sure)

I guess they don’t have tones.

No, I think it doesn’t.

No, it definitely does not have tones.

tone – kind of sound / –  \/   \

eg: Chinese language has 4 tones. Different words have different tones. The tone can change the meaning of the word. Really they are not the same word.

Characters – Each character can be one word. (Usually). Old Characters could actually represent an image, or picture, so they are similar to pictographs.

Letters – A shape, that represents a sound.

eg: Th letter K, sounds like Keee

Alphabet – All the letters of a language

eg: Chinese doesn’t have an alphabet.

eg: That looks like the Russian alphabet.

Needs more review

Figurative – the word or language is not used for the basic meaning

eg: That’s just a figure of speech. He’s not really gonna eat a horse.  (He said, I’m so hungry I could eat a horse.)

eg: You mean figuratively or literally?

Metaphor – Using a word’s meaning in a different way, to show how that situation is similar.

eg: English is filled with metaphors. You need to have a big vocabulary and think creatively to understand them all.
