Vocabulary

rusty – 1. a metal that has been in water for a long time, becomes brown and weaker       2. a skill that you haven’t used in a long time, and now it is not as good.

eg: I don’t wanna ride that rusty bike. It looks dangerous.

eg: My English is rusty.

idiom – a phrase with a special meaning

eg: He was shouting and kicking his desk. He is really hot headed. He can’t control himself. (Easy to get angry)

eg: He is really hard headed. She said no to his dinner invitation about 20 times now. But he still keeps asking her. (Stubborn)

eg: May needs to cool down. She is at work and needs to be efficient.

chengyu – an idiom made with 4 words

eg: Chengyu is not really the same as idioms. They are more complicated than most idioms.

Hindi – one of the common languages in India

eg: Are you speaking Hindi? Haha, can you slow down when you’re speaking? I can’t quite understand.

dot –   .      for websites, e-mail

eg: Go to www.English (Dot) com

period – the point at the end of a sentence.

eg: This sentence does not have a period

eg: This sentence does.

point – used for numbers

eg: 4 (point) 5 million.    4.5M

eg: We just installed Powerpoint 5 (point) 0.      5.0
