Vocabulary

intuitive – something that is easy to use and easy to learn

eg: Everyone loves iphones because they are the most intuitive.

counter-intuitive – the answer or solution, is probably opposite of what you think.

eg: It may seem counterintuitive, but we do burn calories when we are sleeping.

eg: Chinese finger traps are counter-intuitive. Because people usually try to get out of the trap by pulling their fingers, but in fact they need to push their fingers together and pull out slowly.

Don’t usually used to describe things always happen. But Didn’t used to describe things happened before.  –

Don’t, is usually used to describe things which/that always happen. But Didn’t, is used to describe things that happened before.


Explain the difference between:

Lives     and     Has Lived

She lives alone. (Present Simple) (Usually, Always)

She has lived alone.  (Past Participle) (From past, until now)

Lives means now she lives alone. Has lived means, in a period of time, she has lived alone for a period of time. –

Lives means that is always her home, but we don’t know how long it was her home. Has lived means, she lived before and still lives now.

In your own words: Lives means the place where she usually lives. But we don’t know if she lived before. Has lived means the place where she lived in a period of time and until now.

Lives, means the place where her home usually is. Has lived means the place where she lived for a period of time and until now.
