Last week I went to my grandma’s home. She prepared some food for me to bring back. At that time she told me, the life experience of all of her and my grandfather. They married at nineteen sixty one. My grandfather was born and raised in a rich family, his father created a huge business. So, my grandfather hadn’t to do anything in his childhood. Unfortunately, he wasn’t a smart man, which made his father adopted another boy as his son. So my grandfather didn’t take over the business of his father, after 1949, the CCP took the power of China. they confiscated all the assets of capitalists including my great grandfather. And he was put into the prison and died in prison. My grandfather was so afraid of that, so he married a poor girl, who is my grandmother. someone introduced them to each other, they did not fall in love on their own. For my grandfather it was safe for him to married a girl of poor family. For my grandmother, she thought my grandfather is a kind man. but after their marriage, my grandma found my grandfather couldn’t do anything, even some simple housework, like washing, cooking. The most thing she couldn’t bear was once she caught a big illness in the hospital. My grandfather not only didn’t take care of her, but also confused the road to the hospital. Which left my grandmother waited in the hospital for the whole day. Nowadays there relationship was ok, my grandfather hands on all his salary to my grandmother, from his first day of work until now. Their relationship is like good friends, my grandfather said that. If I will die before your grandmother, there is no one I can rely on. From my opinion, my grandfather’s life is a tragedy. But I think from his point of view, he didn’t think of that. He must think the whole life of him is very lucky.

And he was put into prison and died there. My grandfather was so paranoid (extremely worried) this would happen to him too, so he married a poor girl, who is my grandmother. It was an arranged marriage, they did not fall in love on their own. For my grandfather it was safe for him to marry a girl from a poor family. For my grandmother, she thought my grandfather is a kind man. But after their marriage, my grandma found my grandfather couldn’t do anything, even some simple housework, like washing or cooking. The worst thing she couldn’t bear was once she got very sick in the hospital. My grandfather not only didn’t take care of her, but also got lost on the way to the hospital. Which left my grandmother waiting in the hospital for the whole day. Nowadays their relationship is ok. From his first day of work until now my grandfather has handed all his salary to my grandmother. Their relationship is like a good friendship. My grandfather once said “If I die after your grandmother, there is no one I can rely on. How I see it, my grandfather’s life is a tragedy, but I think from his point of view, he must think he was very lucky.

It’s possible that my grandfather’s introverted behavior was crippling. He was also very skeptical.
