I need to spend my vacation days before the new year. (Confusing! Sounds like WHERE you will spend your vacation, not HOW you will spend the days you have in your work account. )

I need to spend use my vacation days before the new year.


TAKE OFF        VS.           HAVE OFF/BE OFF:

Did you take the day off? Or you already had it off?

I take took Friday off.

I am off on Saturdays and Sundays, so if I take Monday off, I will have a three day weekend.

we will have 7 days off in February because of for Chinese new year.

before Chinese new year it will be difficult for me to take some time off, because of the busy works schedule.

The company allows every employee to take one day off for sick leave every month.

After serve being with the company for 2 years we can take one more day off every year for annual leave.


accrue – to build up slowly over time

eg: In my company we do not accrue paid time off.

take off – to leave/ Go / depart

eg: We have to take off otherwise we will miss the train.

eg: We need to take off before 4pm.

eg: We need to take off from the hotel by 6 am.
