Write a story using the vocabulary from today’s class.

Vocabulary

because my best friend is in Hangzhou

my best friend in Hangzhou… likes ice cream/ is a boy/ works for Microsoft

My best friend is a girl in Hangzhou.

I’m not sure, but it has many legs.

It is red when you cook it.

It is not red before you cook it

it is smaller than a cat.

it can be found in the sea or in a river, but they taste different

it has a hard shell

The People’s Republic of China. – the formal name for China

Creek – a small river

eg: When I was a young girl my house was near a creek.

River

Lake – Lake comes before the name of the actual lake

eg: Lake Tahoe,  Lake Pleasant

Sea – smaller than ocean, but also part of ocean

Ocean – much bigger than the sea.

eg: The Pacific ocean is next to China.

eg: The Atlantic ocean is next to Europe.

shell – a hard outside part, and usually soft inside, like a turtle

crab – pang xie, a sea animal, that is round and has a hard shell, and two claws in the front for hands.

crawfish – xiao long xia

geography – study of maps and land and oceans

territory – the land or space that you control

eg: Many countries have problems about their territory.

eg: America has a few island territories, the people are Americans, but it is not the same as mainland USA.
