Subway means, a train under the streets in the city.

Vocabulary

Where are you from?

I’m from Shanghai.

Shanghai is a place in China.

I’m from Arizona.

Arizona is a place in America.


place – di fang

eg: There is a place at ZhenPing Road with very good chuanr.

eg: There is a place at Nan Nanjing Rd. with very good chuanr.

eg: There is a place at HengShan Rd. with very good Mexican food, called “Pistolera.”

called – jiao, the name of something

eg: What is that place called?     It is called Xiabu Xiabu.

Mexico – Muo xi ke,    a country south of USA.

eg: I haven’t been to Mexico, but I like Mexican food.

map – di tu, a thing you look at to find where other things are.

eg: Where is Nanjing Road?

I don’t know, can we look at a map?

find – zhao, to look for something

eg: I can’t find the subway on this map.

grammar – yu fa

eg: Chinese grammar and English grammar are very different. So, we should not just translate(fan yi) the words.

We should not use an electronic dictionary. ( dianzi ci dian)
