you can get a sense of who they are


click V. – two things just automatically match or go well together.

eg: The first day I met her, we just clicked, and we’ve been best friends since.

eg: As a teacher it is very rewarding when you the idea clicks in the student’s mind, and you see they get it.

shady ADJ – something or someone that seems suspicious and you don’t completely trust it.

eg: That apartment is in a shady neighborhood, make sure you lock your doors.

competitor – one member of the competition.

eg: They are one of our smallest competitors, yet they have the largest share of the market.

What do you mean by small? I mean their company is small, but they dominate the market, they might steal out business one day.

contradictory – goes against itself

eg: There is nothing wrong with the above sentence, but it is a little contradictory.

Speaking exercise

The apartment was small, but attractive if rather run down and old.

The price index has been kiting since last year.

International isolationism is not good for relationships between countries.

My friend has her own firm in Shanghai.

We should make a contingency plan if our competition offers low prices to our customers.

If your boss opens the laptop in transit, then you should follow suit.
