eg: Do you feel stressed from your job? No, I don’t feel stressed from my job.

stress sb. out – make them feel stressed

eg: Don’t let it stress you out.

Questions to use if you don’t understand what they said:

Can you say that again?

Can you explain that for me?

What do you mean?   (You don’t understand the whole sentence)

What do you mean, _____?   (You don’t understand a specific part of the sentence, phrase or word)

eg:  What do you mean, busy design?   Oh, I mean there is a lot happening in this design. The design is very complicated, with many things.

eg: What do you mean, black coffee? I mean coffee without sugar or milk.

eg: Suzy you are crazy!     What do you mean crazy?   I mean you are funny and interesting, but also a little unusual. But that’s good, because being normal is boring.

What are you getting at?    (When you want to know their point, exactly what they mean) (You don’t understand WHY they told you)

eg: Suzy did you see this article that doing homework helps improve your English? No, I didn’t see it.  Oh, well it’s very interesting, I think it really works. Ok, sounds like a good article, what are you getting at? Well, maybe you should read it, and do some homework for your English class.

(The point is, I think you should read this article and do more homework)

What is your point?      (Sounds a little rude, but you want to know their exact meaning)
