Vocabulary

proportions – the relationship that exists between the size, number, or amount of two things

eg: It is known that models should have good proportions, but some people don’t agree on what proportions they should have.

blow sth. out of proportion – to make sth. seem much bigger, more intense, or stronger than it it really is

eg: The expression, “Don’t cry over spilled milk” basically means don’t blow things out of proportion, because it is only some milk and a small spill, so it’s easy to clean up.

eg: Don’t make a big deal of it.

crackdown – a sudden enforcement of law.

a vice – a kind of addiction, something you can’t quit and usually harmful to you

eg: Gambling was his vice.

smuggling – to take sth illegally from one place to another

eg: Chu yi was busted smuggling fruit from Mexico to China.
