Vocabulary

manicure – to get your nails done

e.g. Ruby just got a beautiful manicure at the salon.

pedicure – manicure for your feet

surgery – 开刀

e.g. I’m very scared of surgery.

fillers or injectables – beauty procedures that use needles (botox, hyaluronic acid,  juvederm,…)

e.g. A lot of celebrities use fillers to get rid of wrinkles.

wrinkles – folds in your face that you get when you grow older

e.g. My grandfather has a lot of wrinkles, he’s 87.

swollen – (especially of a part of the body) become larger or rounder in size, typically as a result of an accumulation of fluid.

e.g. Your face becomes very swollen after doing a vampire facial.

facial – a beauty treatment for the face.

e.g. Ruby tried a vampire facial recently.

tingly – causing or experiencing a slight prickling or stinging sensation.

heavy-duty (adjective)- very strong or efficient

e.g. This heavy-duty moisturizer will definitely make your skin feel less dry.

micro – very small

e.g. micro-needling is needling with very small needles

syringe – “medical” needle

e.g. The doctor’s syringe looked huge.
