synonyms: to stick with/ follow through/ to be consistent

cliche (n/adj):a saying or remark that is very often made and is therefore not original and not interesting

e.g New years resolutions are a cliche, because everybody does them but hardly anyone follows through.

e.g When a boss encourages their employees what they say is usually a cliche

e.g My wedding day – and I know it’s a cliché – was just the happiest day of my life.

western/christian children legends

easter bunny: gives you an egg, chocolate eggs

tooth fairy: when your tooth falls out you put it under your pillow and the next morning you find it is replaced with money

santa claus

the stork/crane: they bring newborn babies to expectant parents

legends of magical creatures that parents tell their children

superstition(n):belief that is not based on human reason or scientific knowledge, but is connected with old ideas about magic, etc.
