English expressions are often very vivid

本来: at first, initially

actually

I was initially supposed to have class at 6.40 but I actually came earlier.

move something = 移动

move = change houses 搬家

a cruiser = an SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle)

pull over = stop a car / make someone stop a car

A policeman pulled us over, so I pulled over.

A halt is a short stop.

We were tired of walking, so we halted for 20 minutes.

engaged in = 从事,参加

At Smart English, everyone is engaged in making decisions.

We are engaged in a struggle (a fight) between good and evil.

a struggle = an argument, a fight, a disagreement, a difficult situation

There is often a struggle between China and Japan over the Diaoyu islands.

struggle to do = have difficulties doing

I often struggle to get up early in the morning.

I often take sleeping pills when I struggle to sleep.

represent = 表达,表示,描述 (describe), draw 画画

Many painters like to represent naked women.

as + 被动 = 形容词

I like women as represented in fashion magazines. (I like women who are like the ones described / drawn in fashion magazines)

I like women as drawn in magazines.

I want to buy  a car as shown on TV.
