Vocabulary

Gesture (n): 1-  a movement of the hands, arms, or head, etc. to express an idea or feeling.
E.g.: She made a rude gesture at the other driver.

Mannerism (n)something that a person does repeatedly with their face, hands, or voice, and that they may not realize they are doing.
E.g.: He’s got some very strange mannerisms.
E.g.: We’ve spent so much time together that we’ve picked up each other’s mannerisms.

Repress (v): 1- to not allow something, especially feelings, to be expressed
E.g.: It’s stronger than me, I can’t repress that.

Allowance (n): 1- an amount of money that parents regularly give to their child to spend as they choose.
E.g.: When I was a student, my parents didn’t give me an allowance, so I worked as a nanny to get some pocket money.

Temper (n): 1- the tendency to become angry very quickly. 2- to lose your temper: to suddenly become angry
E.g.: He’s got a really bad temper.
E.g.: The children behaved so badly that I lost my temper.

Blessing (n): 1- approval that someone gives to a plan or action. 2- something that is extremely lucky or makes you happy. 3- a request by a priest for God to take care of a particular person or a group of people, or God’s act of doing this.
E.g.: The committee has given its blessing to the plan.
E.g.: It was a blessing that no one was killed in the accident.
E.g.: The mass always ends with a blessing.

Reassure (v): 1- to comfort someone and stop them from worrying. (adj: Reassuring)
E.g.: I was nervous on my first day at college, but I was reassured to see some friendly faces.
