Vocabulary

Eventually (n): 1- in the end, especially after a long time or a lot of effort, problems, etc..
E.g.: It might take him ages but he’ll do it eventually.
E.g.: I found it hard to follow what the teacher was saying, and eventually I lost concentration.

Ages (n): 1- a very long time.
E.g.: It takes ages to cook.
E.g.: I’ve been waiting for ages.
E.g.: Today traffic was really bad, so it took me ages to get to work.
E.g.: It’s raining, so I’m sure it will take me ages to get home.

Rug (n): 1- a piece of thick heavy cloth smaller than a carpet, used for covering the floor or for decoration.
E.g.: My dog loves lying on the rug in front of the fire.

E-commerce (n): 1-the business of buying and selling goods and services on the internet.
E.g.: E-commerce is a very important business in China.

Shopper (n): 1- a person who is buying things from a shop or a number of shops.

Toaster (n): 1- an electric device for toasting bread.

Obscure (adj): 1- to cause something new, or many new things, to grow or start suddenly.
E.g.: The new economic freedom has spawned hundreds of new small businesses.
E.g.: Her death spawned countless films and books.

Shopaholic (n): 1- a person who enjoys shopping very much and does it a lot.
E.g.: A real shopaholic, Diane loved looking for new clothes with her two daughters.

Alcoholic (adj/n): 1- containing alcohol. 2- a person who is unable to give up the habit of drinking alcohol very often and in large amounts.
E.g.: Beer is my favorite alcoholic drink.
E.g.: Could I have something non-alcoholic, like orange juice, please?
E.g.: Her uncle was an alcoholic, but he has recently become sober (=stopped drinking)

Spawn (v): 1- to cause something new, or many new things, to grow or start suddenly:

Celebrity (n): 1- someone who is famous.
E.g.: There were lots of celebrities at the party.

Stock (n): 1- a supply of something for use or sale.
E.g.: It is now halfway through winter and food stocks are already low.
E.g.: The local shop has a good stock of postcards and guidebooks.
E.g.: Much of the city’s housing stock (= the number of houses in the city) is over 100 years old.
