Vocabulary

Transient (adj): 1- lasting for only a short time; temporary.
E.g.: The city has a large transient population (= many people who are living in it only temporarily).

Jump-start (v/n): 1- to improve a situation by taking a particular action.
E.g.: Companies want lower interest rates to jump-start the nation’s weak economy.
E.g.: He wants to use this opportunity as a jump-start for his career.

Undue (adj): 1- to a level that is more than is necessary, acceptable, or reasonable.
E.g.: Such a high increase will impose an undue burden on the local tax payer.

Subside (v): 1- If a condition subsides, it becomes less strong or extreme.
E.g.: The police are hoping that the violence will soon subside.

Fulfillment (n): 1- a feeling of happiness because you are doing what you intended to do in life. 2- the act of doing something that you have promised or intended to do.
E.g.: Workaholics can only find fulfillment in their work.
E.g.: Morales said that owning his own home was the fulfillment of a dream.
