16 meters is the shallowest point you can dive in our school.

apnea

When you dive in apnea, you don’t have any diving gear, equipment or bottles. You just hold your breath and dive with a pair of goggles.

tropical 热带

Tropical islands have beautiful underwater sceneries.

I went there last October.

postpone, delay, put off = 推迟

I wanted to get my licence this year but I had to put it off because I had no money.

defend

Apnea divers dive with a small knife to defend themselves.

aquatic = in the sea 水生的

come across = 碰到

There are some aquatic creatures that you don’t want to come across. For example, an octopus can grab your arm and never let it go.

It’s hard to pinpoint what you want to do in life. I would like to be a scuba diving instructor but I don’t want to tan either, so it’s a bit of a catch-22. I have thought of using a diving suit but you can’t keep it when you are not in deep water.

Diving in apnea doesn’t require any gear, equipment or oxygen bottles. It just takes a pair of goggles and a smile. However, it only allows you to dive in shallow water.

Underwater tropical sceneries can be beautiful but can also be dangerous. You can come across many aquatic creatures that you cannot defend yourself against, such as octopuses and jellyfish.

Divers often keep a small knife underwater so they don’t get killed by an octopus that grabs them and never lets go.

Hopefully, next year I can stop putting off my plans and get my scuba diving license.
