indifferent = that does not make you feel different

• What do you think about the US presidential election?
• I don’t care. I am indifferent to it.

acknowledge = admit, see the existence of something

• Why didn’t you call the office phone?
• I’m sorry, I hadn’t acknowledged that you had one.

• I really like the new office girl, but she never says hello or goodbye to me. She doesn’t even acknowledge me. She is completely indifferent to me.

Review of previous classes

Assange took refuge in the Ecuadorian embassy. It’s not common that a refugee and an ambassador live together.

Assange released some secret material to the public; he believes information should be transparent to the public.

He denied the allegation that he raped a female. But she claims this is the truth.

a resort = a holiday village

In Greece, some refugees found refuge in an abandoned resort.

abandon = to leave sthg or sb behind, forever

Some poor parents abandon their children.

This project is too complicated, we should abandon it.

an astronaut = someone who works in space

When I was a kid, I wanted to be an astronaut. But I grew up and abandoned the idea.

a celebrity = someone famous

I am totally indifferent to many celebrities.
