This is how you eat a sugar cane: peel it and eat the inside, but don’t swallow the flesh. Just swallow the juice.

Grammar
If I see my wife tonight, I will be happy. –> TRUE (it will probably happen soon)
If I saw my dead father, I would be happy. –>DREAM (it probably won’t happen soon)
虚拟的情况–> 过去式
If I can speak many languages, I will be happy. –> If I could speak many languages, I would be happy.
- I’ll have whichever drink is the most delicious.
- I’ll have the drink that is the most delicious
whichever + 名词 = whatever
You can take whatever you want = whichever thing you want
Whichever of Trump or Hillary wins, it’s not gonna be good.
Whoever wins, we lose = Whichever of them wins, we lose. = No matter who wins….
omit 省略
Journalists always omit small words like “a” or “the” in their headlines.
fall together 结合起来
So even when I understand all words of a headline, I don’t understand how they fall together.
