Homework
Use some of the vocabulary from today to write or talk about celadon ceramics, or another kind. Try to use this page and find more vocabulary:

Vocabulary
Crack – to break something very hard, making thin lines
e.g. To eat a hard-boiled egg, you first have to crack the shell.
Crackle – the small, popping noises made when small things crack
e.g. Rice cereal (麦片) crackles when you eat it.
Glaze – the shiny part painted on the outside of ceramics
e.g. Celadon is a shiny, crackled glaze.
Translucent – something which light can go through (trans – through, luce – light)
Adapt – 适应
Dynamic vs. Energetic
— Dynamic is to be able to adapt quickly and well
— Energetic is to be happy, or to be able to work for a long time; full of energy
Energetic applies to people; dynamic can apply to people or to groups (companies, cities, civilizations (文明), countries).
Polish – to rub something until it becomes smooth and shiny
e.g. After firing the glaze, you still have to polish it so that it will look nice.
To put your heart into it – to put a lot of emotion, attention, care, feeling into doing something
e.g. The ceramic cup was not very beautiful, but I put my heart into it, so my friend was happy to get it.
Lose – to not know the location of
Miss – to want to see someone or something again; if you arrive somewhere just after another person (or public transportation) left
e.g. I really miss my home.
e.g. I heard he was going to be at the mall, but by the time I had arrived he had left. It seems I just missed him.
e.g. Oh no! I missed the bus!
Grammar
Only Celadon has cracks, the others haven’t – the others don’t (have cracks)
