Vocabulary

equate (v): 1-to consider as the same, or to connect in your mind:
E.g.: People sometimes equate money with happiness.

proximity (n) 1- the state of being near in space or time:
E.g.: The best thing about the location of the house is its proximity to the town center.

flight (n): (an act or example of) escape, running away, or avoiding something:
E.g.: They lost all their possessions during their flight from the invading army.

take flight-to run away:
E.g.: The burglars took flight when the alarm sounded.

social mobility-the ability to move from one level of society to another

give way to sth-/also/ make way for sth UK-to be replaced by something, especially because it is better, cheaper, easier, etc.:
E.g.: In some areas, modern intensive farming is giving way to the re-introduction of traditional methods.

as well as-in addition; and also:
E.g.: We have a responsibility to our community as well as to our families.

functionary (n): 1-a person who has official duties, especially in a government or political party:
E.g.: The visitors were met by a functionary who escorted them to the director’s office.
E.g.: a government functionary

price yourself/sb/sth out of the market-to charge so much for a product or service that nobody wants or is able to buy it:
E.g.: There are concerns that London is pricing itself out of the market as a European business base.
E.g.: Sharp rises in house prices in recent years are increasingly pricing many people out of the market.

price (oneself, someone, or something) out of the market:To change the price of something in such a way that one, someone, or something is no longer competitive or viable on the market.
E.g.: Their latest smartphone is indeed impressive, but it won’t revolutionize the industry, and at $1,200, they’ve really priced themselves out of the market.

price sth in -to include something in the total price of a product, etc.:
E.g.: I’ve priced in the arrangement fees in the total cost of the mortgage.

municipality (n): 1-a city or town with its own local government, or the local government itself:
E.g.: The municipality provides services such as water and rubbish collection.
