Vocabulary

trip (n) :旅行, a journey in which you go somewhere, usually for a short time, and come back again:
E.g.: The trip from York to Newcastle takes about an hour by train.
E.g.: We’re going on a trip to Norway this summer.

Impolite (adj)-不礼貌, rude:
E.g.: impolite language/behavior
E.g.: It is impolite to point at people.

Polite (adj)-礼貌, behaving in a way that is socially correct and shows understanding of and care for other people’s feelings:
E.g.: I’m afraid I wasn’t very polite to her.
E.g.: She sent me a polite letter thanking me for my invitation.

Unfriendly (adj)-不友好
E.g.: At first I thought he was a bit shy, but I’ve come to the conclusion that he’s simply unfriendly!
E.g.: To people who don’t know him he probably appears rather unfriendly.

Friendly (adj)-友好, behaving in a pleasant, kind way towards someone:
E.g.: a friendly face/smile
E.g.: Our neighbors have always been very friendly to/towards us.

reception (n)-接待处, the place in a hotel or office building where people go when they first arrive:
E.g.: Ask for me at reception.
E.g.: I signed in at the reception desk.

downtown (adj): 市中心, in or to the central part of a city:
E.g.: downtown Los Angeles
E.g.: a downtown address
E.g.: I work downtown, but I live in the suburbs.

suburbs (n) 郊区, an area on the edge of a large town or city where people who work in the town or city often live:
E.g.: Hongqiao is a suburb of Shanghai.
E.g.: We drove from middle-class suburbs to a very poor inner-city area.

jealous (adj)- unhappy and angry because someone has something that you want:
E.g.: He had always been very jealous of his brother’s good looks.

envious (adj): 1-wishing you had what another person has:
E.g.: I’m very envious of your new coat – it’s beautiful.
