Vocabulary

pigeon(n)-鸽子a large, usually grey bird that is often seen in towns sitting on buildings in large groups, and is sometimes eaten as food
E.g.: The old man kept pigeons as pets.

rainbow-彩虹 an arch (= curved shape) of different colours seen in the sky when rain is falling and the sun is shining:
E.g.: The sun came out and we saw a rainbow.

bridge-桥
E.g.: We drove across/over the bridge.
E.g.: the Brooklyn Bridge

peace (n)-和平 freedom from war and violence, especially when people live and work together happily without disagreements:
E.g.: peace talks/proposals
E.g.: a peace conference/initiative
E.g.: Now that the war is over may there be a lasting peace between our nations.

The white pigeon (dove) is a symbol of peace.

The rainbow is a symbol of hope

hope (n):希望 something good that you want to happen in the future, or a confident feeling about what will happen in the future:
E.g.: What are your hopes and dreams for the future?
E.g.: Is there any hope of getting financial support for the project?

hope (v): to want something to happen or to be true, and usually have a good reason to think that it might:
E.g.: I’m hoping for an interview next week.
E.g.: She’s hoping (that) she won’t be away too long.

confident (adj)- 自信的, having confidence:
E.g.: Be a bit more confident in yourself!
E.g.: They don’t sound confident about the future of the industry.
E.g.: I like confident people, and I am a confident person

meaningful (adj):有意义的 1- useful, serious, or important:
E.g.: She seems to find it difficult to form meaningful relationships.

meaningless (adj): 1-无意义的, having no meaning:having no importance or value:
E.g.: a meaningless phrase
E.g.: a meaningless gesture
