provide for sb (v): 1-to give someone the things they need, such as money, food, or clothes:
E.g.: He has a wife and two young children to provide for.

provide (v): 1- to give someone something that they need:
E.g.: This booklet provides useful information about local services.
E.g.: All meals are provided at no additional cost.

grumpy (adj): 1- easily annoyed and complaining:
E.g.: I hadn’t had enough sleep and was feeling kind of grumpy.
E.g.: a grumpy old man

gamble (v): 1-to risk money, for example in a game or on a horse race:
E.g.: I like to gamble when I play cards – it makes it more interesting.
E.g.: He gambles on the horses (= horse races).
E.g.: He gambled away all of our savings.

gamble (n): 1- a risk that might result in loss of money or failure:
E.g.: Her publishers knew they were taking a gamble when they agreed to publish such an unusual novel.
E.g.: It was a gamble using such an inexperienced director, but it paid off (= was successful).

gambler (n): 1-someone who often gambles, for example in a game or on a horse race:
E.g.: a self-help group for compulsive gamblers

addiction (n): 1-the need or strong desire to do or to have something, or a very strong liking for something:
E.g.: His addiction began with prescription drugs.
E.g.: I have an addiction to mystery stories.
