impression (n): 1-an idea or opinion of what something or someone is like:
E.g.: I didn’t get much of an impression of the place because it was dark when we drove through it.
E.g.: What was your impression of Charlotte’s husband?
E.g.: I don’t tend to trust first impressions (= the opinion you form when you meet someone or see something for the first time).

medieval (adj): 1- related to the Middle Ages (= the period in European history from about AD 600 to AD 1500):
E.g.: a medieval building/painting/town

escalate (v): 1-to become or make something become greater or more serious:
E.g.: His financial problems escalated after he became unemployed.
E.g.: The decision to escalate UN involvement has been made in the hopes of a swift end to the hostilities.

de-escalate (v): 1-to (cause to) become less dangerous or difficult:
E.g.: The government has taken these measures in an attempt to de-escalate the conflict.
E.g.: There are signs that the confrontation is beginning to de-escalate.

kimchi (n): 1-a spicy and sour Korean dish made of vegetables that have been allowed to ferment

ferment (v): 1-If food or drink ferments or if you ferment it, the sugar in it changes into alcohol because of a chemical process:
E.g.: You make wine by leaving grape juice to ferment until all the sugar has turned to alcohol.
