Vocabulary
sip (v)-to drink, taking only a very small amount at a time:
E.g.: This tea is very hot, so sip it carefully.
E.g.: She slowly sipped (at) her wine.
pillar(n)-a strong column made of stone, metal, or wood that supports part of a building:
E.g.: A row of reinforced concrete pillars supports the bridge.
wax (n)– a solid substance containing a lot of fat that becomes soft and melts when warm:
E.g.: She watched the wax as it dripped down the side of the candle.
gland (n)-an organ of the body or of a plant that secretes (= produces) liquid chemicals that have various purposes:
E.g.: The glands in my neck are a little bit swollen.
pulp (n)– a mixture of old paper, plant fibres, and wood mixed with water until they form a soft wet mass, used for making paper:
E.g.: wood pulp
E.g.: a pulp mill
