Vocabulary

amid = among, surrounded by, in the middle of (something exciting or scary)

South Korea often has to work amid tensions with North Korea.

conscious 意识

You are conscious when you see, hear and think. When you sleep, you lose consciousness.

duck 低下

If someone throws a ball to your face, duck and try to avoid it.

a coma = a loss of consciousness for a very long time, usually due to illness or disease

After my car accident, I stayed in a coma for one week.

I was very sick, so the doctors decided to induce me in a coma.

a stroke 中风

Many old people suffer a stroke in hot summer.

a corridor 走廊

Grammar

It’s my first time to meet him  –> It’s the first time I meet him

It’s my first time to meet him last week –> It was the first time I met him last week.

Last week, I met him for the first time.
