Parliament 议会，国会

allege = accuse, to insinuate someone did something wrong

The president is allegedly corrupt.

collude = act in collusion 狼狈为奸，串通一气

Many criminals often collude together for a bank heist.

culmination = the highest point, usually after a long time

Zhang Guorong died at the culmination/peak of his career.

impeach 弹劾 = accuse

sound = good

I have arrived to Chongqing safe and sound

grip = grab the attention

This event has gripped the population for several weeks.

a demonstration = a protest in the street

France is the country where demonstrating has become the national sport.

besiege = surround a building or city without letting anyone in or out

Some protesters sometimes besiege their company and don’t let their boss come out until they have reached an agreement.

trade union = 工会

Trade unions were originally designed to protect workers in the face of oppressing bosses.

promulgate 颁布 a law

The demonstrators are opposing the promulgation of a new law.
