Many countries are sending oxygen to India. India is the world’s second largest country, with 1.3 billion people. It is experiencing a big increase in COVID-19 cases. There are over 300,000 new cases every day. India’s hospitals are in trouble. They are turning people with the virus away. There are not enough beds. Many hospitals have no oxygen. Singapore and the UK have sent oxygen to India. India has arranged for Amazon to deliver 100 ventilators.

A spokesperson from Singapore explained how urgent it was to help India. He said this pandemic is a global threat. It does not care what country, nationality or race you are from. He said people must support each other. The WHO said the situation in India was “beyond heartbreaking”. It is doing everything it can to provide equipment and supplies. It said: “The growth that we have seen in case numbers is really, truly astonishing.”
