Have you ever … ? —useful for talking about activities, experiences, travels, tasks.

  1. Have you ever been on a boat ? – Yes, I have been on a boat.
  2. Have you ever broken a window? No, I haven’t broken a window.
  3. Have you ever hidden from the police? No, I haven’t hidden from the police.
  4. Have you ever taught English? No, I haven’t taught (in) English.
  5. Have you ever made ice cream? No, I haven’t ever made ice cream.
  6. Have you ever won a contest? Yes, I have won many contests before. 
  7. Have you ever ridden an elephant? No, I haven’t ridden an elephant.

jump/ jumping=

dry/drying=

eg. The guy is drying off after being in the pool.

fishing —> waiting to catch a fish=

ex. The guys is fishing/waiting to catch a fish by the sea. He is patient and relaxed.

to catch/catching =

ex.  I couldn’t catch a bird in Shanghai, even if I am very hungry. Its not legal.

ex. Hey- Catch! I tossed my phone and you caught it.

Ex. She is going to buy a fish in the market.

to trade / to exchange -> to trade items in the market place

ex. She is exchanging her cash (paper money) for fresh fish. 

ex. We are exchanging information about each other’s languages. 

exchanging —> to do business : to do (international) trade

cooking —> basic verb = to prepare a meal

to prepare/preparing/prepared —-> to work on, to make ready

ex. She prepares the meal. (simple present)—> She is preparing the meal.
