Use the words from today in some writing

Vocabulary

pick sb up – to go to the place they are at and meet them, to help them go somewhere
take sb somewhere – to help sb go somewhere

ask the meaning of a word “what does accent mean?”

accent = kou ying

northern < > southern 
eastern < > western(er) – add “er” = person 
eg. southern Chinese people have different accents to the northern people

licence plate – che pai

character – zi

many old people can’t speak mandarin so they speak fujian dialect / language 

dialect is just the spoken language / different pronunciation / different word choice
language is the dialect and the written words

mandarin / chinese = pu tong hua
