Write about the technology differences between your childhood and today.
Vocabulary
Activist – a person who is opposed to something and tries to protest against it
eg. There were many activists in Taiwan that protest against the CPC and Falun Gong
Cult – a religious group devoted toward a particular figure or object.
eg. Falun Gong sounds like a Chinese cult.
Gasoline/Petrol – 石油
Extremist – people who do things that are of very extreme measure.
eg. The Falun Gong extremists set themselves on fire outside the government buildings.
Messiah [ma-sai-a]- a leader of something who some may view as a god
Pyramid – a shape similar to a 3D triangle
Target – to aim at something
State owned – owned by the government
State owned companies = state owned enterprise (SOE)
Enterprise = company
Mindset – the way of thing
eg. At the time, the people didn’t have a good mindset because of lack of employment.
Mediation – 冥思
They set/lit themselves on fire
light – to put something on fire
eg. He was trying to light/set himself on fire.
eg. I was trying to light a fire to cook on.
