I often feel washed up after a long day of work.

flimsy = not strong enough, not very sturdy

Tom Hanks’s raft was very flimsy; it broke apart at the first wave.


strand 搁浅 = leave alone on an island / desert place

If I were stranded on an island, I would make a raft and escape.


steer = move a vehicle left or right

You use a steering wheel to steer a car or a boat.


a catch-22 = a problem where the consequence is also the cause

  • “I’m sorry, we are looking for someone with experience for this position”
  • “How can I get experience if nobody ever hires me?”
  • “Well, that’s a catch-22”

morale = confidence and enthusiasm of a person or a group

Someone negative brings the morale of their team down.
