F2F Class Notes (Consultant)

Today was our first class together so we were mostly getting to know more about each other. Easy could understand most of my questions but could not use full sentences to answer them. Some of the words he only knew the Chinese but he still tried his best to present his ideas.

We read 2 chapters from oxford read and discover’s On the beach. There was a lot of new vocabulary for Easy, words such as ocean, tide, salt, and rock are all new words. However, he understood the book relatively well. He could understand based on the words, pictures, and my descriptions. He pays attention to details and is good at finding meaning from print.

Lastly, we did a bit of writing. Easy knew basic sentence structures and the spelling of common words. He doesn’t know how to write complex sentences yet and doesn’t know how to express more elaborate ideas in English.

I recommend that Easy start with books he likes that are not too difficult for him and read/listen to the books every day. I think school has trained him with the basics, but to go the next step he has to read real books.
