Nowadays,Shanghai is a international city that people come from variety location. As a Shanghai person, I really welcome them because they make various culture together. But some strangers don’t show respect to Shanghai. When we speak Shanghainese/Shanghai dialect, they will blame us for ” Antiforeign”. This is a strange phenomenon ! When in Rome, do as the Romans do. I dont understand why the dont know that! Unfortunately, Shanghanese is degenerating. Even many Shanghai kids only can speak Mandarin and English. I love Shanghai, I want to preserve its culture and the first thing to do is to protect its language!
