When a verb is added “-ing”, the verb will changing to noun –>
When a verb ends in “-ing”, it will become a noun.
(not always!)

The verb is added “ing” it is not only noun but also adjective. –>
When a verb ends in “ing”, it can be a noun or an adjective.

someTHING is interestING (-ING = 令人)
The class is interesting. I am interested.
The class is boring. I am bored
This project is challenging. I am challenged every day.
This job is tiring. I am tired.
This task is exhausting. It makes me exhausted.
English grammar is confusing. It makes me confused.

You can also use these verbs as nouns

Interesting your customers is a good skill.
Boring your students will make them hate you.
Challenging your children is good for them.
Tiring your colleagues with useless questions is bad.
Exhausting your phone battery too fast will lead to problems.
Confusing your customers won’t help them buy your products.

The position of the word tells you whether it’s a noun or an adjective.

If = 如果
If it rains, I will stay home.

If = Whether = 是否 (except at the beginning of a sentence)
It don’t know if I will go to the party.
It don’t know whether I will go to the party.

If I go to the party depends on the weather –>
Whether I go to the party depends on the weather.

I don’t know whether I can take some holidays this summer.
If I can, I will go to my hometown. If I can’t, I will stay in Shanghai and work.
Whether I stay or leave depends on my boss and I don’t know if he is okay with that.
