to scam / a scam = 诈骗 to cheat someone by gaining their confidence

to con / a con = 诈骗

Some people around train stations ask you for money buy a ticket back home. It’s usually a scam.

a conman = a con artist

Some con artists use love-letter templates to scam a maximum of people.

sob = cry with tears

The little girl was sobbing after her ice cream fell on the ground.

a sob story = a (usually fake) story designed to make people feel sorry

be on one’s guard 提防

Always stay on your guard when speaking to strangers online.

If your personal information gets leaked, you will have to lick your wounds in the future.
